PROJECT: Addressing water shortage in the Western Cape / internationalisation of technology
CLIENT: International Trade Commission
Problem: The Cape Town Water Crisis of 2018 was a globally publicised challenge, and our client, a European based trade commission, wanted to support their technology startups to export their technologies into new markets including South Africa. However, the Commission did not understand the local ecosystem, and was looking for the correct networks to support internationalisation.
How did we solve it: RIIS worked with the Commission to identify technologies that could be appropriately transferred into South Africa, and then identified a range of local partners and clients that could create valuable commercial relationships.
Outcomes: 12 tech firms were brought to SA, with various groups establishing commercial and technology relationships with local firms.
